You may know about training a dog to settle and stop worrying and being concerned about the treats you have on your person while laying down, but it is important to also teach the skill while on walks. Often times trainers fall into the trap that when they have food on them the dog expects it to come rapidly so when they don’t get a treat they either get frustrated bored or completely ignore th...

Train your dog to STOP barking at the fence
Exactly what I was looking for, I'm not trying to compete! Lol. Thank you for sharing!
Sorry this didn't work with a hyper 12 wk old Parson Terrier! I wish someone would do these videos with a problem dog not a perfectly trained one.
This is not a game for a puppy, I suggest first teaching the puppy to be calm around food , work on a settle and other puppy behaviors. This behavior is not a needed behavior for any dog its is a trick that’s fun to do and build your relationship training. The dog is not a problem dog, it’s a parson terrier- they are soo intelligent! You just need to figure out what motivates your dog. Here is a puppy version of this video but before this you’ll need to work on just being calm during training sessions - ua-cam.com/video/45lk4_tud9Y/v-deo.htmlsi=tqmDkV3WSCNI1sQ4

i’m 14 years old, and my family is introducing a pembroke welsh corgi into our family in the next couple months. i’m beyond excited, but also nervous. this will be my first ever dog! i’m looking into a future career in animal training, so i’ll be spending a lot of time training the puppy. i was so scared about not knowing where to start, but your videos help me extraordinarily in my research. you break it down so that it’s so easy to understand. im looking forward to having a well trained dog, thank you so much!
congrats on your puppy to be!
I just discovered your channel today, you are amazing. You gave me back motivation and the pleasure of working with my dog. The world needs more positive people like you. Thank you a lot.
Oh yay! I’m glad you are finding pleasure in your training! That’s what it should be about :)
Could you share what pen you use and approximate size that seems to work well? I have looked on a couple of sites and sometimes the fotos appear manipulated to seem larger than they are. I rescued three pups a couple of months ago that are now around four months and one really needs more calming practice. He actually can open the front door and I have to lock myself in, so tired .
I suggest any pen with no horizontal wires or bars so the puppies can’t climb up them like a ladder. Panels work too. I think they might have child safety covers for round door handles as well as the ones you push down. I started locking my door after an intruder came in so maybe locking isn’t the worst thing to do these days :(. You can get two pens and put them together for a bigger space
What are the size of treats for huskies
It depends on how big they are but I’d defiantly use peasized or bigger so they don’t aspirate on them
Amazing thank you! ❤
Amazing advice as always Emily. This information should be compulsory for every dog owner. All your dogs chilling in the background of every video you make is legendary. 0
As always, really really useful 😊
Awe thanks!
Is there a purpose in teaching "let's go" as a cue as well as "leave it" or could you use one of those cues for both types of situations?
Can you recommend what kind of treat to use in training?
I hope you are ok. I hope you're well. 🙏
Im ok. If you are referring to my dog who passed, I am doing ok granted the circumstances. Grief comes in waves.
Hi, I Notice you seem to look tired too, I hope you are giving yourself as much wonderful care as you do your wonderful dogs. Anytime come visit in Mexico (dry season is better, around April) and I will fix you up with a hammock on my patio in a small town mountain setting!
My huskie is out as we speak and I cannot get him to come in we’ve been chasing him for hours now. Now we are just waiting at home he comes close to the door but then takes off.
clever doggies
I have a corgi…. She can’t reach 😂
I'm really happy to see you address older dogs or dogs with different abilities. My step-dog is a 13 year old minpin and just can't do what he used to do.
A video specifically on counter surfing would be awesome! Our rescue will be 7 in November...we got him when he was around 1.5. This is one habit we just cannot break. We're able to manage it so 99% of the time he isn't able to get anything even if he does jump on the counter, but that one time every few months where he does find something obviously rewards him enough to continue doing it. He's usually pretty good about staying in a sit if we put him in one, but if we walk too far away to grab something, he sometimes just decides to go for it...and if we forget to push the plate to the middle of the table, he'll get it. Any help would be much appreciated 😊
here are some video tutorials that can help - ua-cam.com/video/7omuDOadL04/v-deo.html and another ua-cam.com/video/erYxSWe9kbQ/v-deo.html
@@kikopup hahaha sorry, I probably should've searched your channel before asking! Thank you for the links! 😊
You are the master of teaching dogs to settle.
So if your dog or puppy chooses to go to their mat or crate to settle and you reward them, should you then release them so that they don't think they have to stay there? Or do you just let them get up when they want? And if you just let them get up when they want, will it harm your duration stay on the mat?
I made a video today to answer this question because its a great question! :) ua-cam.com/video/5j1OxCvtyxw/v-deo.html
Thanks Emily
I suppose it is a matter of „cool mind“. Of cause some breeds have their „randy 5 minutes“, but if you keep cool, they will calm down as you do so.
I have a miniature Poodle she's super smart, but when I come home or people come over she just can't relax and leave people alone. She gets so excited, and if she really loves you she flips over and goes pee pee all over herself! 🤣🤣🤣
Here is a video I made on the topic ua-cam.com/video/LWAf0IbsAYg/v-deo.html
@@kikopup Thank you so much!
😍😍🔥
Terrific clip. Thank you for the helpful cue giver advice. I remembered today, after watching this clip and a way too long walk, that more short walks will help both of us. 💞🐾
.gimana sih diem apa so mau nonton yauda
Thank you so much for this video! I'm doing this just for some days now and it's been helping so much with him being relaxed and calmer on our walks. He's a highly trained program service dog but I never liked the treat for every kind of offered attention because of the very problem you talk about in the video. He still gets treats for checking in and waiting when hiking without a leash, for recall and all the other things which are very important for him being able to be off leash. Anyways, when it comes to heel walking he stopped looking up very fast with your described method and calmly walked besides me today for long periods with minimal treats and, which is way more important for me, in a much calmer state of mind. Thank you so much for the advice I didn't know I needed 😊
Sorry but that's nasty. Not sorry
You might as well give the tongue and stop teasing
An honest trainer.
Commenting so the algo will bring me more kikopup and less of the whispering dude.
Y'all happy that they contaminated your air... Hmm..ok
The timing of this video for me is impeccable. My dog is finally starting to get the concept of loose leash walking, but we run into every single issue you mentioned while we're trying to figure it out. As always, I love the breakdown of behavior you want to avoid or encourage, and why. Makes it really intuitive to apply to your own dog!
Do you have to use a clicker?
My dog won’t come in, especially if she sees a squirrel. She will not come in or away from there. She literally will choke herself instead.
What a spectacle
